Okay, I bought in to Dodge's advertising and just had to get
a red truck. Their consumer conditioning must work because
three of my four Dodge trucks have been red. In fact when
I strayed from my color choice and bought a silver truck, I knew
that I had made a mistake.
This was a great vehicle and it was perfect for my needs.
I used it to tow our motorcycles to
Daytona
Florida for Bike Week and Octoberfest a number of times.
In addition, we towed our scoots to Sturgis for the annual
Harley-Davidson Black Hills Rally two years running.
Mostly, we used it around the homestead; from trips to town to
hauling brush and building materials, we got our money's worth
from this pickup.
So why did I get rid of this truck? Back in '02
when all the auto manufacturers were offering "free money" to
buy a new vehicle, I couldn't pass up 0% financing and my '98
wasn't getting more valuable. On a whim I stopped by the
local Dodge dealer to see what they would do on a trade-in and
what 0% financing would mean for a payment. To my
surprise, I got more than I expected for my trade and the 0%
clinched the deal. I was now the new owner of another
red 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4.
