We moved in 2003 and drove this truck to Montana from Texas and
introduced it to a real winter. The one issue I faced was snow tires.
That year, Dodge introduced 21" wheels as standard equipment. When
winter was approaching and we needed to get snow tires, we discovered
that none of the local tire shops yet had snow tires to fit this new
rim size. Consequently, we had to buy new rims along with our tires - Grrrrrrrrr.
Spring of '03 and time to wash the months of winter
sludge off the truck. The best thing about this color choice was
that dried on road sludge wasn't as visible as it is on other colors.
This Ram 1500 had the small V8 (318ci) and I was
never as pleased with that powerplant as I was with the 360 ci engine.
It was fine for light hauling or driving distances, but it strained towing our boat or a
heavy
load. This was my main complaint with this truck, underpowered. Hauling our boat was one of the things that prompted me
to trade this in on my current truck, a Ram 3500 diesel. Now
HERE
is a serious truck!
