This was a s-w-e-e-t vehicle. It was
everything I wanted in a truck at the time. The 360 ci engine was
powerful and could take any abuse. It was essentially a carbon-copy
of our '98 Ram with the enhancements Dodge added over the years.
The most noticeable was the quad cab and extra room added to the rear
cabin. This was a major improvement and became the standard by which
other crew cabs were judged. The other differences were minor,
redesigned chrome grille, new wheels, etc., but the interior look and
feel was fundamentally the same.
So why did I get rid of this truck?
Unfortunately, this truck met an early
demise at the hands of vandals who were kind enough to "sugar my gas".
The engine was ruined. We discovered this two days before we were
moving from Texas to Montana. Although the insurance would cover
the engine replacement, we didn't have the two weeks to wait around
while this happened. Making a L-O-N-G and unpleasant story
short... we traded it to the dealer for a new "demo" truck. I
wanted a demo as we needed a truck that was already broken-in because
the very next day we would be hooking up a 12' trailer for our move to
Montana. The "newest" 2002 was a silver
1500 with a short bed.
